DesireReadsPrivacy Policy
This policy explains what information the DesireReads app ("the app") collects, how it is used, and the choices you have. The app is operated by Azul Studios, based in the United States ("we", "us"). If you have questions, email support@desirereads.com.
1. Information we collect
Information that stays on your device
Your library, reading progress, reading preferences, coin balance, unlocked chapters and check-in streak are stored on your iPhone. We do not receive this information. It is removed when you delete the app.
Account information (optional)
You can use the app without an account. If you choose to sign in with Apple or Google, we receive an account identifier, your email address (or an Apple private relay address if you choose to hide your email), and your name if you choose to share it. This information is stored by our authentication provider, Supabase.
Purchases
Coin packs and VIP subscriptions are sold through Apple's App Store. Apple processes your payment; we never receive your card or bank details. The app receives transaction information from Apple, such as the product purchased, the purchase date and subscription status, so it can deliver your coins and VIP access.
Advertising
The app offers optional rewarded videos that give you coins. These ads are served by Google AdMob. When you watch an ad, Google may collect your IP address, device information, ad interaction data and, only if you allow tracking in Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, your device's advertising identifier. Google's use of this information is described in Google's advertising policy. If you are in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland, the app asks for your consent before personalized ads are shown.
What we don't collect
The app does not access your contacts, photos, microphone or precise location. The Listen feature reads stories aloud using your iPhone's built-in voice; no audio is recorded or sent anywhere.
2. How we use information
- To provide the app, including sign-in, delivering purchases and restoring subscriptions.
- To show rewarded videos and give you the coins you earn.
- To answer your support requests.
- To prevent fraud and abuse, keep the app secure, and comply with the law.
3. How information is shared
We share information only with the service providers that run parts of the app for us: Apple (App Store payments and Sign in with Apple), Google (Google Sign-In and AdMob) and Supabase (account storage). We may also disclose information if the law requires it, to protect our rights or users' safety, or as part of a merger or sale of our business.
We do not sell your personal information for money. If you allow tracking, AdMob may use your advertising identifier to show personalized ads, which some U.S. state laws call "sharing" or "targeted advertising." You can opt out at any time by turning off tracking in Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking on your iPhone.
4. How long we keep information
We keep account information until you delete your account. Information on your device stays there until you delete the app. Apple keeps its own records of your purchases under Apple's privacy policy.
5. Deleting your account
In the app, go to Profile → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your account and profile from our systems. You can also email support@desirereads.com from the address linked to your account and we will delete it for you. Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription; cancel it in your iPhone's Settings.
6. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a copy of your personal information, and to object to or limit certain uses of it. This includes residents of California and other U.S. states with privacy laws, and people in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom and Switzerland. To make a request, email support@desirereads.com. We will not treat you differently for exercising your rights.
If you are in the EEA, the UK or Switzerland: we process account information to provide the service you asked for (contract), show personalized ads only with your consent, and use information to keep the app secure based on our legitimate interests. You may complain to your local data protection authority.
7. International transfers
We and our service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers are protected by safeguards such as standard contractual clauses.
8. Adults only
DesireReads is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has given us information, contact us and we will delete it.
9. Security
We use reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your information. No method of storage or transmission is completely secure.
10. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
